FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 19, 2025

La Puente, CA – LABI College is proud to announce that the Commission on Accreditation of the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) has officially voted to grant LABI College a 10-Year Reaffirmation of Accreditation, extending until 2035. This is the highest and longest accreditation term that an ABHE institution can receive, marking a monumental achievement in LABI College’s history.
“First and foremost, we would like to thank God, above all, for this great achievement. This is a historic milestone for LABI College,” said Dr. Marty Harris, President of LABI College/LATS. “Our journey toward accreditation has been decades in the making, and today, we celebrate the perseverance, faith, and dedication of our team, faculty, board members, and supporters.”
A Journey Decades in the Making
LABI College has long pursued accreditation, with challenges, including academic restructuring and faculty development. Since the beginning of Dr. Harris’ tenure nearly 11 years ago, LABI College has been intentional in its pursuit of accreditation to strengthen its commitment to academic excellence and institutional growth.
In 2017, LABI College advanced from ABHE Applicant to Candidate status. A year later, the college received approval to operate from the California Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE). In 2020, LABI College achieved full accreditation from ABHE and was also authorized for Title IV Federal Financial Aid by the U.S. Department of Education—a critical step in expanding accessibility for students.
Since then, LABI College has been awarded grants from prestigious foundations, including the Kern Family Foundation, Oddo Family Foundation, Lopez Foundation, and the Lilly Endowment Inc. These resources have fueled improvements in faculty development, technology, infrastructure, and student services, positioning the institution for continued success.
Rigorous Accreditation Process and Reaffirmation
Over the past several years, LABI College has undergone extensive preparations for its 10-year reaffirmation of accreditation, including:
Comprehensive site visits from accreditation teams
Research and institutional reports
Significant campus enhancement, including library, technology, dormitories, and faculty/staff development
A rigorous ABHE site evaluation in November 2024
A commission panel review in February 2025
Following these evaluations, the ABHE Commission on Accreditation unanimously voted on February 16, 2025, to reaffirm LABI College’s accreditation through 2035.
A Testament to Commitment and Excellence
The achievement of this 10-year reaffirmation is a testament to the dedication of LABI College’s leadership, faculty, board members, and community supporters. Dr. Harris extended his gratitude to a host of individuals who played pivotal roles in the accreditation journey, including faculty leaders, board members, and accreditation consultants.
“We are deeply grateful for every individual who has contributed to this journey,” Dr. Harris said. “This reaffirmation is not just about accreditation—it’s about our commitment to academic excellence, student success, and the future of biblical higher education.”
Looking Ahead
As LABI College moves forward, the institution remains committed to upholding ABHE’s high standards, maintaining compliance with the State of California and the U.S. Department of Education, and continuously improving the student experience.
To celebrate this historic moment, LABI College will host a special gathering for board members, faculty, and staff upon returning to campus next week.
